Wiki maintenance ongoing

When you create a page

• Breadcrumb trails
  • Create parent Options > Parent
  • Page name is the URL page name not the "Title of page"
  • For example on this page type wiki-maintenance (not Wiki maintenance ongoing)

• Page tags
  • At the bottom of the page, click Tags and type tags separated by a space
  • Make sure you always use the same tags
  • Why: Creates a list of pages with the descriptor when they click the word (e.g. articles)

• Naming conventions
  • Consistent naming conventions for each collection. Look on the page to figure it out.
  • Move all SF-breast-cancer INTO breast-cancer-articles
  • Overview articles are named disease-overview (for example breast-cancer-overview)

• Restore previous version
  • Click on history at the bottom of the page
  • You can View the page, view the Source of the revision, or Revert to a previous version
  • A box asks "Are you sure?"
  • A note appears indicating that the revision has happened.

• Changing menus
  • Go into the Navigation menu: http://chis.wikidot.com/nav:side or the top Navigation menu http://chis.wikidot.com/nav:top
  • Try to keep them the same!!!

• Attaching images and files
  • usually a PDF file or an image (.png, .svg, .jpg, etc.). You have a max. of 300MB per site.
  • File > Upload new file
  • File manager tells you how many files you have and how much space you have used.

Site maintenance

• Backups (do it every Monday)
  • Site manager (http://chis.wikidot.com/admin:manage) > Backup > Create a new backup
  • Download zipped backup to: G:\CHIS\Web 2_0\CHIS wiki\Backups, name with the date.

• Link checking
  • Use the W3C link checker

• Site administration Site manager
  • Changing appearance (CSS)
